>An Observation from the Zoo

March 5, 2011

>

A funny thing happened at the Zoo today. Each of the girls got a pedometer when they entered the building. Mercy and Hope spent the morning together visiting their favorite animals, following the same general path. But when they got home and I looked at their pedometers, I found that Mercy covered the same ground in 1,500 less steps than Hope did. Or to flip the equasion, Hope took 22% more steps than Mercy did, despite the fact that their strides are the same length.

Hope is conservative and economical; everything she does is purposeful, measured, and elegant. Mercy dances through life because… Well, why not?
