“A Child of Two Worlds”

March 11, 2012

What have you been up to this weekend?

The girls have ditched their snow boots for flip-flops and have made cut-off shorts from every pair of jeans that wore through the knees over the winter. I’ve mopped the mudroom floor of that goo it was named for, and mopped again after the girls bathed Daisy, whose white coat is a lovely foil for everything she acquires romping in the yard. I edited three chapters of an amazing manuscript (not mine!) I’m excited to bring to print this year, tried to get the house in order, and packed a suitcase and two tote bags for this week’s adventures at Gillette with Joy.

Then I sat down to read my email and found a link to a lovely article about motherhood across cultures by Rachel Pieh Jones, “A Child of Two Worlds” that appeared February 23, 2012 in the New York Times. Yes, my BBC friends, that Rachel Jones.  Pour a cup of tea and enjoy a lovely piece of writing by one of our own.
