Day 2: No Surgery

March 13, 2012

Joy was scheduled to have the plates removed from her legs at 7:30 AM. At 7:00 AM the called it off because she has a cold with a slight fever and “unknown neurological issues” –which simply means the EEG has not been evaluated yet.

So she’s still wired with the video camera rolling until a neurologist comes by on rounds and tells us what to expect from the rest of our day.

These are the little piggies who went to market several hundred times between 12:30 AM and 4:00 AM this morning. Apparently Joy didn’t get he memo about needing to get up at 5:30 AM for surgery.

Joy decided Georgie need a band-aid on his face.

He also needed lots of stories.

Noon Update: The best news of the day: We’re home! We still need to go back for the plate removal surgery in April. But we’re praising God the neurologist saw no seizure activity! Her could-be absence-seizure-spells actually reflect slower than typical electrical activity in some areas of her brain some of the time, hence her sometime-slow response rate. In other words: common with the brain damage that causes quadriplegic cerebral palsy.

Wonderful news on the EEG! I’m so happy that your sweet little girl does not have to face yet another challenge in her life — what a blessing!
