When we moved in last fall, the neighborhood population of girls under age eight went from three to six. Six weeks later, they were joined by three more. You can imagine the drama this summer: nine girls’ worth of squealing, band aids, dolls, and, “I am never playing with you again, ever!” where “ever” is over before the tears are dry.

And while Faith is the proverbial old hat to Mercy and Hope, the other little girls adore her and look up to her. “Cowgirls” is one of their favorite games this summer.

Those zucchini never had a chance. They were trampled by the herd of horses :).
